Wilma Pelly

Wilma Pelly, a Salteaux actress, was born on March 5th, 1937 in Fort Que' Pelle, Saskatchewan. Wilma is best known for her role as Elsie Tsa' Che' on the Gemini Award winning series North of 60. Appearing in over 75 episodes as the town medicine woman and no non-sense elder, Wilma quickly became a fan favorite. Since then she's starred in the North of 60 made-for-tv movies, In the Blue Ground, Trial by Fire, Dream Storm, Another Country, Dream Keeper and Distant Drumming. In addition to acting, Wilma has toured schools as a motivational speaker, and over the years has been asked to speak to the children of Native communities and encourage them to stay in school. Having experienced the Lebret Residential School in Saskatchewan enables Wilma to appreciate the value of an education. From elementary students to high school, Wilma has been an inspiration. When she's not busy acting, Wilma enjoys spending time with her family, helping to raise the youngsters, going to Pow Wows and traditional dancing.
